Message of the Day:- 1 Timothy 6:6-10 - "6But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. 10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. Link - Cult Watch.
What's the understanding on baptism? Can a man be save if he is not baptised ?
Had a friend who is non-christian whom did a lot of sinful act. Prior before he died, he attended church, read the Bible ,was remorseful and regret his sins. I saw the change in him but his past caught up with him and he died suddenly without being baptise. Wonder if he is saved??
Re: What's the understanding on baptism? Can a man be save if he is not baptised ?
I think best baptise so that when one died, don't kenna question at judgement day, hei, why didn't you baptise when all the rest do? But on the other hand, is God so "cat" (ngeow meaning stingy) that one must baptise to go to heaven?
Re: What's the understanding on baptism? Can a man be save if he is not baptised ?
This chap spent his last few years in Changi. Authority don't allow baptism inside there. Went to see him. Knew him years earlier when I gave him, left..right...centre..on his sinful ways. Thank me before he left this world.
Since then, I always like the story of the thief who believed and went to paradise. Many church stand is otherwise.

Actually the moral of the story of the thief on the cross who made it to heaven is not an excuse to live a sinful live & then find the grace of God to enter heaven.
The things that happen to Israel are examples for the church. The thief was crucified signifying that any sinner who crucifies his flesh with its passions & desires (like the crucifixion of the thief) will be saved through the cross of Jesus Christ. And this matter is of great importance since the subject of crucifixion is mentioned twice, the Lord's cruxifixion & ours to enter paradise.

Hi ILife,
Does that mean one need to be baptise before being save?
Well, not too sure my late friend led a sinful life after he believe. I doubt so. Only thing troubling me is the baptism part. What if a man really believe and have all the "ammo" of a Christian but is unable to be baptise due to circumstances??
BTW, happygal, I'm surprise. Anyway, hope someone in this forum can help to answer.

When you believe in Jesus Christ, you are baptized into His death & burial that you can walk in the newness of life. This baptism is the death of the old man by denying the fleshly passions & desires & living the victorious Christian life. Unless you crucify the flesh you are not in this baptism into the death & burial of Jesus Christ. Water baptism is only the symbol of it.

Yea, that's what I had in mind. Too bad many ( chuches ) don't think in that way. They will come out with a lot of "mumbo-jumbo". Had a few clash with them. Only thing is I'm not able to drive my point through as my knowledge of the Bible not so fantastico like you. Anyway thanks.
BTW, what this about the thief thingy? The cross and so forth? Don't quite understand.
Re: What's the understanding on baptism? Can a man be save if he is not baptised ?
Baptism is not a condition, so to speak, for being saved. Rather, baptism is a manifestation that one has put away the old and come to live the new life in Christ Jesus.
Some denominations believe in full immersion, some believe that that's not necessary. Whatever it is, baptism by water is only symbolic. Don't believe the mumbo-jumbo that you are not a full-fledged Christian just because you didn't have water baptism.
You are a Christian when you believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ in your heart and confess with your lips that He is the Son of God.
Burdened22: I cannot comment on whether your friend would experience eternal life, sorry brother. Only God can know his heart when he passed on.
"because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."
