If you would like a biblical perspective, the purpose of this earth life is to prepare His bride to reign beside Him on His throne for all of eternity. God created the earth with His wife on His mind, He died on the cross with His wife in mind & He is coming back for His wife who is made in His image & likeness. The whole purpose of this earthly life is to prepare His bride to reign with Him. For this reason it grieves Him when souls perish in hell, they are not eternally tormented though the fire is eternal & the lake of fire is eternal, but they will fizzle off into nothing eventually when their debt of sin is fully paid, as though they had never existed. This grieves a God to lose us, who spent so much of His time (when there was no time created yet) thinking about each human being & angelic being whom He would created, intricately designing each & every person with their quirks & personality, making us unique with different talents & gifts which all He takes delight and He made us to be included His family.
All one’s existence is a dressing room for eternity. And eternity is fun all the way, with no more sorrow, death, tears.

Why you become a Christian from Atheist then? I thought there is a thread somewhere asking for testimonies why one become a Christian, did you post it there elvineve?

What good has Atheism done to you, since you don't know where you came from, why you are here, and where you are going to? Think twice before you reply, are you sure Atheism has the answer to those questions?

I dunno if this would help you, but I'm currently on a course that attempts to help us experience, know and do the will of God. Let me attempt to answer your question. As we all know, each of us are made different, and each of us were given "gifts".
These gifts, time, money, and other resources that we have now in actual fact, do not belong to us, we are merely caretakers of them. They all belong to God. God put them in our care for us to develop and grow these "gifts" using the resources he have given us, so that when we meet him again, or during the end of days whichever comes first, we can "account to" or give back to God what truly belongs to him.
Think of it like investment practices, like we are the investment consultants being put in the care of our client's capital/money to help them grow their assets, but we don't own the money.
To answer your question on what you are here on earth for, you can take some time to find out what your gifts are, like some who may be gifted in numbers, others in speech, while others in leading, and some in analyzing, etc. Use these gifts and develop them into something big, (i.e. go into the field of your expertise) and use them as a daily offering to God as you work in your fields of expertise, so that you may glorify his name in all that you do.

Let me share with you a verse from Colossians 3:17 "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
